Philosophical and sociological problems of the information society


The department "Philosophical problems of ecology" was established for the first time in the former USSR by Prof., Ph.D. Agayar Shukurov. Until 2006, the department published “Ecology Philosophy. Culture ”was published in 46 issues. From 1991 to November 2008, the head of the department was Professor A. Shukurov. To date, the name of the department has been changed several times and conducted research in various scientific and philosophical areas;
• Philosophical problems of global and social ecology in 2000 (supervised by prof., Ph.D. Agayar Shukurov)
• 2009 - Problems of Globalization and Information Society (Head of Department, Professor Ph.D. R. Mirzazade)
• 2013 - Globalization and philosophical problems of the information society ”- (Head of the Department, Ph.D. S.Mustafayev)
• 2017 - Philosophical problems of the information society - (Head of the department Ph.D. A.Rustamova)
• 2021 - Philosophical and sociological problems of the Information Society (Deputy Head of Department, PhD in philosophy M.S Jabrailov)
The main research areas of the department: artificial intelligence and the impact of the 4th industrial revolution on the information society; philosophical analysis of information society development processes; theoretical and methodological problems of the information society; Formation and development of the information society in Azerbaijan: realities and perspectives; human potential and quality of life issues in the information society; modern concepts of information society, etc.
The department has 10 employees, 4 of whom are doctors of philosophy.
