Ethics


The head of the department is doctor of philosophical sciences, professor Mammadzadeh Ilham Ramiz.

The Department of Ethics, in terms of its scientific potential, is one of the main departments of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. During the activity of the department there were some changes in its name. Since the end of 1981 "Ethics", since 2002 – "Ethics and Aesthetics", in 2005-2009 – "Axiology and Philosophical Anthropology", since 2009 – "Problems of Theoretical and Applied Ethics". In connection with structural changes, the department was renamed "Ethics".
From 1989 to the present day, Ilham Ramiz Mammadzadeh has been the head of the department. I.R. Mammadzadeh is the author of a large number of monographs and articles: “Introduction to Ethics” (in Russian, 2004), “Experience in the Interpretation of Morals” (in Russian, 2006), “On the relevance of philosophy in the context of globalization and modernization” (in Azerbaijani, 2009), “On Philosophy” (in Russian, 2012), and etc.
His works on ethics, political science, history of philosophy cover a wide range of problems and are of interest both in our country and abroad. He has also been included in the encyclopedic reference book “Philosophers of Russia of the 20th century”. The works and annotations of the scientist on the philosophy and ethics of M. Machiavelli were included in the Russian-Italian encyclopedia “Maxim Machiavelli”.
Employees of the department are the authors of monographs and books well known in our republic. The department has 15 employees, including 3 senior researchers, 4 leading researchers, 4 research associates, 3 senior laboratory assistants. 3 employees of the department are Doctors of Sciences and 5 – Doctors of Philosophy.
